The goal of the Proseminar is to learn how to write a short paper about a specific topic, how to research scientific literature and how to prepare a talk about the topic. This Proseminar in particular focuses on computer graphics topics.
Computer graphics are used in a very wide range of applications. Geometry processing is used for CAD systems and simulations, for design and computation. Video games need 3D models that have to be modelled and rendered. Movies and advertisements use computer generated content to visualize things that are otherwise not possible. Scientific visualizations and even the weather report on TV use computer graphics for displaying massive datasets. Modern handheld devices like smartphones have 3D graphics capabilities that allow for complex applications and games.
Computer Vision on the other hand allows us to build machines that can see. This can be used to model 3D information from images, to build human-machine interaction or to detect objects and events in images.
